MINI, How to Place Front Into Service Position, R55, R56, R57, R58, R59

October 27, 2017

When servicing the second generation MINI models, the front section of the vehicle (bumper, radiator support, radiator, etc) may be too close to the engine to access the area that needs to be worked with. In these cases, we put the vehicle into a “service position”, which moves the complete front section of the vehicle about 2″ forward …. easing access to the front of the engine. This is done without disconnecting any coolant, oil or A/C lines.

Follow along with this DIY video from Bentley Publishers, detailing the procedures to place the front into the service position. Additionally, make sure that you have the Bentley repair manual for your second-gen MINI to assist you in your maintenance, service and repair tasks.
