E30 325i Timing Belt and A/C Compressor Belt

Q My mechanic said that my 1990 325is needs a serpentine belt and according to your catalog my car doesn’t even have one. Is that true? Also, if my air conditioning isn’t working and there are no leaks and supposedly the compressor, etc., are okay, could it be as simple as the air conditioning belt?
