Q Hi, I have a 2001 Bmw 525i and my Fuel Door Lock Actuator is currently not working at all. I was wondering if you would be able to tell me if it is a fairly easy part to install before I purchase it. I currently can see the back of the actuator and where it is plugged up and I was wondering if its just a matter of unscrewing and unplugging the existing module and replacing it with the new one or if there is much more to it. thanks for the asssitance and have a great day!
A The fuel door lock actuator is relatively easy to replace. Just remove the side trunk trim panel and you will have full access to the assembly. This is a simple remove & replace.
Until you can get the actuator replaced, there is an emergency fuel door release located in the passenger side trunk trim panel. It is the little green tab sticking through the panel. Pull the tab to release the fuel door latch.
