I have a very frustrating problem. On my dash the “Brake” Light has turned on and I cannot figure out why. I checked the fluid and added some, I have scanned the computer for codes and that turned up nothing. Any ideas?
A
When the BRAKE warning comes on, in the lower right area of the instrument cluster, this is indicating that the systems are sensing either low brake fluid or brake pad wear. You should have an accompanying message in the Check Control Display (the digital display in the lower center area of the cluster) that says either CHECK BRAKE FLUID or CHECK BRAKE PADS. This information is in the vehicle owner’s manual. If you do not have the owner’s manual, we do keep these in stock for most models.
Since you noted that you did check the brake fluid, I will assume that the Check Control was saying to check the brake fluid. If the fluid level is up to full and the warning is still on, you likely have a faulty level switch in the brake fluid reservoir cap. In this case, the cure wuld be to replace the cap assembly. Please give our agents a call at 800-535-2002 to order a replacement cap/switch assembly.
