Tech Info - E30 radiator fan

Q I was wondering if you might be able to give me some guidance on a project that I wish to endeavor.
I want to swap out my belt driven radiator/cooling fan for an auxiliary electric fan. I drive a 1987 BMW 325i.
Is this a difficult process? Is there some sort of dummy pulley that can replace the fan pulley?
I looked through many of the tech tips, but was unable to locate such an instructional document.
Perhaps if one already exists, then you could just email me the link. I would like to make the ultimate cooling system for my bimmer.
Please let me know.
Regards,
Harold

You can easily remove the engine fan and clutch assembly. Simply unscrew the clutch, using the 32mm nut, and remove the assembly. The pulley will still be bolted to the water pump, via the four 10mm headed bolts.
You already have an auxiliary electric fan in front of the A/C condenser. This may or may not be adequate for use in removal of the engine fan. If you find that you need more “fan”, you can install a typical aftermarket radiator fan unit. Just pay attention to the measurements and thickness dimensions.
I would suggest that you install our lower temperature fan switch, so that the fan will come on before the engine gets too high in temp.
